Walking Program
At Similkameen Pharmacy, we believe that health is achieved through a combination of factors.
Moderate physical activity and social interactions are key elements of a healthy lifestyle. These are at the core of our walking program. The Steps to Better Health walking program aims to promote wellness and address social isolation through physical activity and health literacy. Most suitable for seniors, it is open and free of charge to all, thanks to grants and public funding.
The program consists of two weekly group walks in an inclusive environment where all participants can go the speed and distance that is safe for them. Social time is also provided after the Tuesday walk and the occasional guest speaker joins us then. The program currently runs for 6 months each year, from April to September, but the team hopes to expend it in the future.
